The Association for the Protection of the Thirty-One-Mile Lake (APL 31 Milles) actively works to protect the lake’s environment by raising awareness among residents. and visitors on good environmental practices, installing buoys indicating the presence of water milfoil to prevent its proliferation as well as informing different levels of government about issues which could impact the lake.
The association works closely with the Regroupement pour la protection de l’eau de la Vallée-de-la-Gatineau in order to strengthen the networks of lake associations, to collaborate with the authorities of the MRC de la Vallée-de-la- Gatineau and the municipalities that make it up in order to strengthen interventions aimed at protecting water.
Since 2009, the Association has participated in the program of the “Voluntary monitoring network of resort lakes” of the Ministry of Sustainable Development, Environment and Fight against Climate Change. This program makes it possible to properly document the quality of the lake water, monitor the progress, and thus adopt corrective measures if necessary.
